  Have you experienced a Tornado?

  today, a small tornado touched down in south san francisco and people went nutz.

  it was very localized and basically blew out a few windows, but looking at the local news you'd think that the sky was falling.

  since some of you live in 'tornado alley', can you please enlighten us californians as to what you consider to be a 'real' tornado?

  Indiana has seen some horrific outbreaks over the years - Palm Sunday in 65 [?] - dozens of tornadoes ripped the entire midwest - massive outbreak in 1973 that killed a dozen or so in our small towns close by - have been within a quarter mile of one twice - but never in it directly - one took an entire trailer park out and dumped it in the middle of the lake - 2 killed I think - every spring we get dozens in the area

  Be glad you are in Frisco - not too much danger there comparitively.

  F5's are the worst - and we some every year around here - just had tornado drills at work this week.

  My wife is in the hospital

  hello my dear friends:.

  i just wanted to let you know that my wife was admitted today to the hospital.

  as you know she is 32 weeks pregnant with our son and unfortuanely, is very low on amniotic fluid.

  I hope this memorial doesnt backfire ...........

  well,ive decided to go tomorrow night after all.not to my local cong but another one in the city where i have a very good friend and a few distant family members.i dont agree with much of the orgs teachings or promotions,but i do believe in jesus and really just have a very,very powerful urge to pay my respects to him.. i have been telling my "worldly"girlfriend about the religion and naturally,she is quite interested as this was part of my life since an early age.. blow me down she really wants to come with me!so when she walks into the hall tomorrow and gets a very warm welcome it will possibly shock her,after some of the stranger stories i have told her about the faith(vague stories including no xmas,disfellowshipping,no after school activities etc).i have told her that the welcome she receives will be warm and imho genuine too.she is quite a spiritual person anyway and will enjoy the occasion.. my worry would be that she will enjoy it too much and go to a follow up.it is quite probable.she has never had anything to do with jw,s before, till going out with yours truly .. i,m interested in your comments?.

  Won't be going myself - been to 40 already. I would worry about setting your girl up for a whirlwind romance with the borg though - you might be so much chaff in the wind if she swallows the full party line - at least give her a fighting chance - buy her CoC and let her read it

  Baptize 'em young, keep 'em outta Sports - My notes from the last assembly

  i had heard of accounts of young baptisms, but i figured it was the exception rather than the rule.

  now i wonder, after viewing the models of youth paraded at the last assembly.

  i took note of the ages and age of baptism of the five young men (no girls this time) who were interviewed as models of jw youth at this last week's assembly.

  It was many years of lost education; social interaction; friendships ---these things can never be replaced. My wife ( who was never a JW) has good friends from her early school years.

  Franklin - I am there too, my friend. I was baptized at 17, and never knew anything else. Now at 50, when discovering the 'truth about the truth', I have a hard time finding a social life at all. But that is the toll that being in a cult all my life has handed me. I feel sorry for the young lives being ruined now. When this org starts to implode [and I think it will be in the next 20 years or so], they will have empty lives and will have missed what you and I did. Almost makes me want to cry at times.

  Ps - why do all the Watchtower apologists state in thier first postings that we are all a bunch of athiest that do not believe in God? My belief in God has never been stronger - and now I have a personal relationship with Christ as a Mediator! Just succumbing to the standard dubdom thinking I suppose!

  it is what they believe about the watchtower society that has done it.. there are two things that are necessary to compare.. 1) the society's interpretation of matthew 24:45--47, the most important scripture in watchtower theology.. with.

  2) watchtower history as it relates to their interpretation of matthew 24:45--47, the most important event in watchtower history, 1919 jesus's appointment of them as god's organization.. from don cameron's book, "captives of a concept".. if you haven't read it yet, it's right up there with 'crises of conscience'.if you have loved ones that you want to help get out of this organization, this book is the key.. blueblades

  It is worth the read. And I don't agree with the comment that it was just an effort to make money. Even if so, the twenty years that Don sacrificed to the WTBTS are a high price to pay. Many of us sacrificed more than that without any monetary gains -and this endorsement is free and honest.

  hanover fist - you believe that the Watchtower magazine is 'inspired by God' ? Really? Even the WTBTS does not make that kind of claim!

  Go to this site - read some of the exact quotes from that inspired magazine and come back and tell us what you think then - WOW!

  Don't even know who e-watchman is myself - can't remember visiting that site often.

  But if one has left the organization of Jehovah's witnesses I cannot imagine why hatred of Raymond Franz would logically follow. Ray, along with Penton, Frye, Jonnson, et al, have done more to reveal the deep dark cistern called the Watchtower society to the light of reality than anyone else. The efforts that these men have put forth to do so has freed hundreds of thousands from the religious bondage to that organization. To hate that is illogical, especially for one who is apparently interested in the same message regarding cultish religion.

  Perhaps this guy just needs someone to hate for the sake of it! Or to elevate himself somehow.

  Guess where The living Church of God met

  at my grandkids school this past saturday.

  it made front page news in their local paper in oconomowoc and i can tell you that my daughter and other parents are not real happy about it.

  this is a school that is for preschool up to fifth grade.

  All those Wisconsin names are like that.

  Kls - Where was the shooting done - in the actual church they used? So it is closed for the time being - that is why they met in the school? I don't live all that far from Wisconsin but it seems the news on that story has ended here - but I am sure it will be big time news there for some time.

  How far did this shooting occur from you? Scary deal!

  i must get back to the meetings soon, i'll see the po who always seems to make a beeline for me after, yes here's my number , phone me.

  I know what you mean - but I did not go last year, and now this year I have no desire to go. Wifey and I will have a communion at home this time - but we will not do the Nisan 14 date I think.

  The more I read Jesus' words the more I think he was just talking about Christian Fellowship and sharing a meal together, that would include a significant [but not ritualistic] 'remembrance' of Jesus role in the matter of salvation.

  Kind of like someone who is about to die, calls all his friends together and says what Jesus said - Keep doing this - that is getting together like we are here - and remembering the last time we got to do so. Of course more religious than that - but without all the pomp and ceremony. And eat the emblems in honor of that last meal.

  Just my view at the moment - but trying to get my head around what was really important instead of a self righteous ceremony in which we refuse to do as he told us -

  But getting to that point of total rejection of the org is not easy. Thoughts are with you, Bro.
